SYSTEM DESIGN ENGINEER / INTEGRATOR ENGINEER

We specialize in the design, manufacture and integration of system packaging, back planes, power and monitoring systems, computer boards and peripherals, supplying everything from off-the-shelf standard products to fully customized commercial and MIL COTS integrated rack systems for VME, VXI, PXI, cPCI, and proprietary bus systems.

Position includes meeting schedule, cost, and performance goals and direct customer communication for OEM & standard products.  Engineering tools available include PSpice, Mathcad, Viewdraw and Pads to complete the electrical design requirements, schematic development and PCB layout.  Projects are broad in nature, usually requiring appreciable originality and ingenuity.   

REPORTS TO:            DIRECTOR OF ENGINEERING

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Complete electrical design responsibility from concept to manufacturing for systems including power selection, controllers, interconnect and backplanes.  Hardware development and understanding the customer’s digital & RF hardware will be required.
• Design to meet latest safety & EMI/EMC directives
• Backplane bus experience (VME, PCI, PXI, VXI, ATCA), a plus

• Provides customer assistance and interfaces with clients
• Supports manufacturing and sales departments by preparing test specifications production documents and other project related reports
• Assumes project leadership with engineers

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelors of Science degree in Electrical Engineering required

• 5-10 years design engineering experience required

• Familiarity of manufacturing methods preferred

• Must be detail oriented, organized,  very analytical

• Oral and written communication skills required

• Familiarity with microprocessors (Microchip PIC), hardware and embedded software design using microcontrollers

• Digital & RF design techniques

• Familiarity with FPGA’s, PLD’s, DSP’s a plus

• Hot plug/sequencing techniques of digital PCB’s a plus

• Familiarity with military specs a plus
